Some time ago we posted a Hate Mail page to expose the prejudice and bigotry rife in Egypt and the Arab World but many people e-mailed us worried that the page might not also foster attitudes of worthlessness and a sense of isolation and asked us to take it down. So we did. And instead we decided to post this more positive page to carry the letters of international support we receive. So here are a few recent messages -

19 October - from a supporter of our cause in Australia -

Brothers and Sister in Egypt Just a note to encourage you and to wish you success in your struggle. I live in one of the States of Australia where gay and lesbian people are free to live and love as they please. We still experience homophobia from time to time but it is no longer State sanctioned. Growing up as a teenager and young adult in the 1970's and 1980's I had to keep my identity secret as it was a crime to practice homosexuality. Arrests and bashings by the police were commonplace. Through a long campaign focusing on human rights we now have protection through legislation which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sexual identity. The struggle is worth it. I wish you well. Sincerely Gary

28 July - from an Egyptian living in Europe -

"Thank you very much for your very well written articles and news on "gayegypt.com". The site was recommended to me by a European friend who spoke very highly of it. I am thrilled to find out that the voice of intellectual gay Egyptians could be heard, not only in Egypt but throughout the whole world." 27 July - from a friend of one of the prisoners -

"Thank you so much for maintaining your excellent website, and giving the latest news on the Queen Boat trial. It is a very important service to many people around the world who are friends of those that are now in Tura prison."
